October 21, 2021 – The Lamar County School System is proud to report a graduation rate of 86.26 for the class of 2021. This marks the tenth consecutive year the school system has exceeded the state average. We want to recognize the efforts of Lamar County High School principal Dr. David Boland and his staff for this accomplishment. While our goal will always be to graduate every child in four years, we are pleased with this result in light of the many challenges school systems have faced due to COVID-19 pandemic the last few years. That said, the graduation rate is far from a high school indicator. The core foundations, support, and nurture of our staff at the Primary, Elementary, and Middle School instilled in these graduates paved their path to success. We are especially proud of the success indicated in the subgroup breakdown from this data. From the class of 2021, students with special needs obtained a record setting 92.59% graduation rate. These results don’t happen by themselves, they are the result of countless individuals within our school system, community, friends, and family who understand and value the importance of education. As we say in Lamar County, “It’s good to be us”!
