A message from Mr. Harris:
My name is Jake Harris and I am happy to serve as the Principal at Lamar County High School. I am from Griffin and graduated from Griffin High School in 2005. For my undergraduate degree, I attended Georgia Southern University, Gordon State College, and graduated from the University of West Georgia with a History and Secondary Education degree in 2010. Upon graduating, I taught Social Studies and coached basketball, football, and at Rehoboth Road Middle School, where I served until 2017. At that time I transferred to Spalding High School to serve as a United States History teacher. In December 2017, I graduated from Columbus State University with my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership and in 2018 I was hired to serve as an Assistant Principal at Spalding High School in Griffin, Georgia. During my time as an Assistant Principal I also served Spalding as Athletic Director. In December 2021, I graduated with my Specialist in Education (Ed. S.) in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.
I feel both fortunate and grateful to be in the position that I am in as it allows me to work with the students, staff, and community of Lamar County. I feel that our job at Lamar County High School is to provide all students with an equitable and excellent education that prepares them for college, career, and life. I try to work and live by a simple quote from legendary UCLA Men's Basketball Coach John Wooden and he stated, "Nothing works unless you do."
I am looking forward to what the 2023-2024 school year holds for us here at Lamar County High School. GO TROJANS!!!
